Floral exotica paper wonders

Hi everyone,
Hope you all are doing great. I am back with a new post today where you can find some beautiful and soft colors used to blend with Floral exotica papers to make a three in one card.
Well, nowadays everyone is aware of distress oxides and that's something hitting the market today. But my today's post is based on Floral exotica papers, DMC sparkling dust and distress inks (Old is gold). Believe me guys, these papers are way too awesome to blend with distress inks, sprays and water. How beautifully this paper absorbs inks and gives such a stunning effect. If you see the peeled paint effect on the very first layer, you will be able to notice how nicely the ink has taken the torn edges of the paper giving you proper shade on your background.
There are some images at the end of this post where you will be able to find that all the pages inside are glossy since I have used clear texture paste on every page. You can also find some crackles here and there on the pages which looks and feels really beautiful when you have it in your hand. I really couldn't resist myself from using these papers. These papers are perfect for making any kind of mixed media projects, cards layouts and scrapbooks.
This card has given me so many ideas to use this paper in so many different projects in future. And you gotta stay tuned for many more inspirations coming from our talented DMC team.

Hope you liked my three in one card!
Stay tuned for more!

Hugs,
Meher

Mixed media tags using Dress My Craft Floral Exotica & Floral Oriental Collection Paper

Hello my dear crafty friends,

Hope you all are doing good and enjoying and getting inspiration from Dress My Craft Design Team projects.. So here we are in July and this month we are focusing on Papers only. Yes!!
We all will be working with Floral Exotica & Floral Oriental Collection Paper.
This paper pack contains 10 sheets of 12x12 inch Premium White Card stock which are acid and lignin free. It is 280 gsm so it's quite think and can be used for various purpose.

Well I have tried these for flower making, stamping, color blending and this is perfect paper for any kind of Card making, scrapbook, decoupage base, album making, backgrounds and Mixed media etc.

Today I am going to use them in mixed media. Yes I have a picture tutorial and you can find the video tutorial on Dress My Craft YouTube channel, I will only be showing how i used gesso and modelling paste on these papers and you will be amazed that due to the thickness both the papers are quite sturdy and you don't need to use and chipboard base for your tags. Well this is totally optional if you want to use or not. In my previous post of Mixed media Tags, I have used chipboard base for my paper, as that was a pattern paper having less gsm. But today I wanted to try without base as this will also let you know the quality of these papers.

It was totally a trial for me but I was amazed to see the effect of colors on these papers. It was amazing..
Do you want to see??
Yess!!!
So let's see what I have created.

First we will start with Floral Exotica Collection. I am using the brush with rough tip so it creates beautiful stripes background with gesso. Then I used different stencils by Tim Holtz & Dusty Attic to make backgrounds on both the papers.

Similarly I did for Floral Oriental Paper. Due to it's thickness and good quality it will lie flat after heating it.

I used Heidi Swapp color shine spritz Hot Pink & Butter. Can you see how beautifully the colors have came out?

You can see the background effect of the brushed gesso and stencils...both are looking

Now I am taking Leaf chipboard from Dusty Attic and I brushed that with Distress Crackle paint (Shabby Shutters). After heating up, it gives nice crackle effect on the chipboard.

Now I tied white thread on the tag and assembled it. After this I took some nice beautiful flowers that goes well with the theme and color and arranged the flower cluster.

This is Floral Oriental Collection and see the background effect.

I have used distress ink on the Leaf chipboard. I used Gathered Twigs distress ink as it was going very well with whole color theme of this tag.

And now you believe that we can use these papers for mixed media. The paper will not tear or fall apart despite of spraying water on to it for color blending. Well after making this, I must say that if you are a mixed media person then do try it and share your projects tagging me.

I hope you get some inspiration from my projects. I would love to hear from you all.
Hop on to YouTube channel for video tutorials.

Thanks for stopping by!

July Focus: Dress My Craft Floral papers

Hello Everyone!
Manu here and we are focusing on the Dress My Craft Floral papers this month along with the groove tool. DMC has release floral papers in two different forms.

1. Floral Oriental paper: This cardstock is 250 GSM  and is an absolute delight to make flowers. All the flowers that I have made till now is using this paper collection. This paper has low water absorption capacity and becomes very stiff once the flower is dried. Best paper to make closed blooms.
2. Floral Exotica paper: This cardstock is again 250 gsm paper and is used to make flowers again. Since this paper absorbs more water, it's best suited to make open bloom flowers.

Apart from making blooms, these papers makes a delight to work with Distress inks. Yes, you heard it right, distress inks works like butter on these papers. No blotches of ink, no, nothing like that, just plain simple blend. I'm actually in love with the distressing with these papers and I dont think I would switch onto some other paper for doing distressing! So that's what I have done for this post. All my creations are heavily distressed. Checkout for yourself!!

Project 1.

I did an interactive card with distressing as the main medium of colouring and jazzing my card. By now you would have guesses that I simply love colorful and all things bright!

Here's how the card opens up!! This is a very simple pop-up card, but looks so pretty!

Did you noticed the unicorns all glitters and glammed up with the Dress My Craft sparkling dust?? NO.. go have a look at the card once again !!! Sparkling dust is a boon and just add that extra charm to your creations!! Must must have!

Project 2:

I have another totally distressed cards for you!

The background here is completely distressed with Mustard Seed and Peacock feather distress inks.
Noticed the smooth blend?? These papers are an absolute delight to work with if you have distressing as your focal point!!!

These cards are made with the Pixels stamp from Mudra and yes, Crafterscorner now stocks these Made in India stamps and this one especially is a must have if you love making Pixel art!!!

Project 3:

Another distressed project again, this time I made some tags!!

Yet again, distressing works super finely on these papers!!

Project 4:

Here's the last project, this one is not about distress inks, but is about sprays!! I have used Lindy's starburst spray colors to make this mixed media tag!

To make the tag, cut out 2 pieces of 8*4 cardstock and then paste them together to make them a little more sturdier. Stencil out your preferred design using the modelling paste and then use lindy's spray to get the desired color.  I also added Frosted powder and crystal cubes to this tag and finish off your tag with your choice of a sentiment.

I hope you are inspired to use these papers in various different ways and do share your take on these on the Crafter's corner facebook page!!
