YOU'VE GOT LOVE MAIL - an artistic mail box with Mini Tag Journal

 Dear Friends,

Shalini Pahwa here today...I remember an old quote that I read somewhere "Every Heart is a mailbox... So why don't you send some feelings..."

Today I am presenting an arty 'Tag Journal' in a creative mailbox shaped capsule - so that each one of you sends some lovely feelings to the ones you care for, this festive season.

The Tag Journal and the mailbox have both been created using various products of 'Dress My Craft'. I have covered the mailbox with 'Chirping Birds' series of pattern paper from the "Me Collection" of Dress My Craft. Each pattern in this collection has its own unique enchanting design which stimulates my creativity and encourages me to try something different every time. Handmade Flowers created using Dress My Craft dies.

I have also used Rounded Tag Punch of Dress My Craft to create the tags in different sizes. The ribbon twine and the beads used on tag are just perfect to embellish your love messages on the tags.

Below is the step by step procedure to make the Tag journal :

Take two Card Stocks (size 7" X 5.5"

Score the 7" side at 3.35" & 6.5"

Score the 5.5" side at 0.5" & 5"

Fold and make two pocket envelopes as shown in picture.

The final size of the envelope would be 3.25" X 5" H (with top flap)

In one of the envelopes score at 2" from below and fold. Secure it from sides with tacky glue to make a small envelope of 3.25" X 3" H (with top flap)

Paste it on top of the bigger envelope from sides & bottom. This would create four pockets for Tags.

For creating tags :

Using rounded tag punch to cut various tags of sizes : 1.5" x 3"; 2" x 4.25"; 2" x 3.25"; 2.25" x 5.75"

Each bigger sized tag has been combined with smaller sized tag to create layers and attached with ribbon twine with bead ends.

The tags are then decorated with laces, distress ink and sentiments from Motif sheet (Hydrangea Fawn Collection) etc.

i hope you all will love this work. Do share your creations.

Have A Great Day!!!

The Brush / Pencil Stands for Every Mood

Dear Friends

Shalini Pahwa here today, Pencils, Pens and Brushes are everyone's essential desk accessories. Today I am presenting to you pretty and inspiring stand which would not only help you organise your desk but also add that artistic zing in your room, uplift your mood and re-energize your artistic and creative abilities.

These stands are very simple to make. And this is made simpler because of an innovative and unique product introduced by 'Dress My Craft'. This product called 'Transfer Me' are sheets of gorgeous designs of both vintage and contemporary styles. The design motifs are easy to apply on any surface. The procedure is simple and explicitly mentioned on the product.

I have created three stands for different mood

·       The 'I am a Queen' mood

·       The vintage floral 'Love me in Paris' mood

·       The contemporary 'Always be beside me' mood

.

After pasting these magnificent motifs on a stand I have varnished it to make it last longer. To emphasize the mood or theme I have applied paint and some background effects.

Now I have these lovely brush & pencil stands that have become the pride of my desk to encourage me to delve into creativity every day.

Hope you would also soon have such nice stands on your desks.

Do share your experience on using this truly amazing product of DMC.

 Have A Great Day!!!

The Circle of Love - Accordion Gift Box

Dear Friends,
Shalini Pahwa here today,In today's trying times, I am consistently reminded of these golden words written by Anne Frank : "I don’t think of all the misery, but of the beauty that still remains".

Today, when we are in the midst of the greatest challenge that the world has ever faced, we all should strive to do something special for everyone around us. We may not be able to change the world, but we can all make an effort to spread love and kindness, so that we imbibe a feeling of oneness in all inhabitants of this beautiful earth irrespective of race, color, creed or religion.

The festival season is around the corner. The festivities may be muted this year, but our outpouring of love and care should know no bounds.

Today I present a beautiful gift which I have designed with the same spirit of love and festivities in mind. I have called it "The circle of love". It is a circular accordion box which has six small triangular boxes to gift chocolates and candies to people you care for.

To make the triangular box, take a pattern paper. I have used pattern paper of size 7.25"x9.5"from Sweet Treat Paper Collection of 'Dress my Craft'. Score the pattern paper at .5", 3.5", 6.5" at longer side(9.5") and 2.625", 4.75" on the other side(7.25") as shown in below pics.
Fold the paper at the scored position  to make a triangular box. Make 6 such triangular boxes.
Take a pattern paper of size 2"x10.5" from "Sweet Treat paper Collection of Dress My Craft and score at 3.125", 6.25" 9.375"as shown. Fold the paper strip on the scored position to make a hexagonal edged circle. Make two such strips.
Paste the triangular boxes on the hexagonal circular strip.

To make box closure I have used a magnet which is then covered by an element made from using circular punch of Dress My Craft.
The accordion box is then decorated using motifs from the Dress My Craft-"Sweet Treat Motif Sheet" along with some sentiments and flowers made from Dress My Craft- Five Petal Flower Die. Use of glitter gives the box a festive look. The top of the accordion box is then finished using a shaker element and cut-out of motifs.

The top edges are decorated with paper lace made using Crochet Lace Border Die of Dress My Craft.

Fill the triangular boxes with candies and hand-made chocolates and present to someone you care about and see them gloat with pride and love.

I am sure you would love and enjoy making such a box. Do let me know your comments or queries if any.

Have A Great Day!!!
